Respiro Opera, NYC is a 10 day intensive program designed for the continuation of the artistic development of emerging artists. The focus of the program is on breath, body and musical style with special attention to translation and communication of character.
Each day will begin with yoga led by Barbara Fusco-Spear (CWPost) followed by alternating classes in Alexander Technique with Bill Connington (Yale Drama) and Lori Schiff (Juilliard), and Body Mapping with Dr. Jan Prokop (Andover Educator, Montclair State). Leading artistic representative Ken Benson will discuss business aspects of the performing arts. Master vocal coaches include LeAnn Overton (Respiro Founder, Manhattan School of Music & Montclair State), Roger Malouf (Metropolitan Opera) and renowned vocal accompanist David Holkeboer.
This year’s participants come from across the country - Texas, Colorado, California – as well as New York and New Jersey. The program dates for 2016 are June 17 to 26. The first weekend classes meet 10-6; Monday-Friday classes run 5-10. The final performance is open to the public. Each participant will receive a digital file of the final performance to upload for internet presence.
